At one is Facebook.com, since launching in 2004 the social networking service has hit the world by storm because people are able to create a personal profile, add other users as friends, and exchange messages including receiving automatic notifications when they have a message.
Number two is Google.com, it was first incorporated as a privately held company on September 4th, 1998 and its initial reveal properly to the public followed on the 19th August 2004. It is one of the most recognised brands in the world and is also used as the leading search engine.
Three is Youtube.com a video sharing website created by three former PayPal employees in February 2005. It has features whereby people can create an account and upload their videos to the world. In 2010 the website was redesigned to make it easier to use which resulted in more users of the service each year.
Four is the search engine Yahoo, founded in 1994 and incorporated on March 1, 1995 is now up there at the top with Google in the multi brands of search engines that are on the web today. According to news sources roughly 700million people visit the website every month which is a great number.
Five is Baidu.com, this is not as familiar with people but still ranks high in the listings. It is a website that offers access to an index of over 740 million pages, 80 million images, and 10 million multimedia files. It was founded in 1987 and the headquarters are in Beijing in China.
Six is the well known Wikipedia, this is a collaboratively edited, multilingual, free internet encyclopaedia. It has 24 million articles that can be edited as you wish, so if you have more information that isn’t on there then you can add it at the touch of a button.
Seven is windows live, is part of Microsoft’s software plus services platform. Windows live is an online service that lets users log into their account using their own email address and is now linked in with facebook.
Eight is the Amazon website founded in 1994 and went online in 1995. It first started as a book store online and has grown to selling almost everything like DVD’s, CDs, MP3 downloads, software, videogames, electronics, apparel, furniture, food, toys and jewellery.
Nine is Qq.com, full name is Tencent QQ is a free instant messaging computer program in China. Founded in China on 11th November 1998 and has been recently developed many times, however since then it has grown rapidly now with an estimated 784 million active users.
Finally at number 10 then is Twitter, an online social networking site and micro blogging service that enables its users to send and read text based messages of up to 140 characters, known as tweets. It was created in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey and launched that July since then it has gone from strength to strength.
